Local singer/songwriter/guitarist Jeff Powers likes to switch things up between a regular old acoustic guitar and a three-string cigar-box guitar played with a slide. That and the fact that he provides his own tambourine percussion, gives his music a genuine folk/blues flavor.
He used the cigar-box guitar throughout the new album of original tunes— both new and reworkings of some older tunes — he recorded last November at Cleveland’s Bad Racket Recording. He’ll be unveiling the record, titled If It Ain’t This It’s That, at his CD release show at the Beachland Tavern.
Also on the bill are Kent acoustic jam duo the Ericks and Dolfish aka singer/songwriter Max Sollisch.
Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door.
