Busy American concert pianist and music professor Jeremy Denk returns to the University of Akron’s E.J. Thomas Hall as part of the Tuesday Musical series. (He last played there with violinist Joshua Bell in 2010).
A mid-career artist at 43, he continues to grow his resume with a full schedule of recitals and appearances with orchestras around the country. He’s won a MacArthur Genius Grant and released numerous CDs, most recently his recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations, released last year. And he’s an Oberlin alum.
He also has a wicked sense of humor, as his 2008 mock interview with Sarah Palin demonstrated.
In Akron, he’ll be playing music by Mozart, Schumann and Ligeti.
Get there earlier for the 6:30 pre-concert talk by pianist Phillip Thomson, an associate professor of music at the University of Akron.
Tickets are $25-$45.
