Ace & the Ragers rocked the region in the mid-late ’90s with their loud ’n’ fast punked-up versions of ’50s rock and pop tunes.
Starting out in 1993 as a staple on the underground/DIY circuit, the group went more mainstream after their initial splash.
They started adding originals to their vast set list of early rock covers, worked in a strain of jump blues/swing/R&B influence, released three albums, and expanded to touring outside the area extensively for a couple of years before tossing in the towel as a full-time band in 2000.
Three of the members now live in Austin, Texas where they play with the Jungle Rockers. Craig Ramsey has remained active on the local music scene as part of Bears, Kiddo, and Lovekill. The other members are retired from music.
They’ll be back onstage in Cleveland at the Grog Shop for their annual holiday reunion show with the Mofos, Tease Box, and Sim Ross of the Sign-Offs.
Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door.
