Cleveland-based garage rockers the New Salem Witch Hunters cranked out a bunch of raw-boned recording for about 15 years from the mid ’80s through the turn of the millennium, several of them on Pittsburgh’s noted garage-rock label Get Hip Recordings.
Since then the band hasn’t been particularly active, but they’re not particularly gone either. You can still count on seeing them here and there, like this show at the Happy Dog. The band still features wild-haired Dave Adkins on vocals and two of Cleveland’s most illustrious rock & roll record collector historians, Tom Fallon and Dave Swanson, on guitar. Jeff Herwick’s on bass, Jim Wilson’s on keys …. All longtime members, no newbies here.
