Montreal-Based Wake Island Brings Cinematic Sound to Mahall’s

Thu 10/10 @ 9PM

Montreal-based quartet Wake Island includes musicians from Canada, the U.S., and Beirut Lebanon.

And they sound like they came out of England in the ’80, with their melodramatic, billowing sound that makes them sound like a cousin to the Psychedelic Furs or Echo and the Bunnymen — and even in places uncannily like U2.

The band’s latest album It Takes Time to Be Uncomfortable was released early this year. Produced by their long-time collaborator Jace Lasek, it contains eight appealingly ambitious tunes like “Use It As a Weapon” and “I Like It.”

They’ll be at Mahall’s with new Cleveland ensemble Pipe Dream and Bowling Green electro group Tree No Leaves opening.

Admission is $8.
