It’s All Obsolete at Studio 2091

Opening Fri 10/11 @ 6pm

This Friday, Studio 2091 in Cuyahoga Falls will host two shows by talented local artist Andy Dreamingwolf.  Don’t Forget to Write is Dreamingwolf’s latest solo exhibition featuring paintings dealing with both moments (and things) past.  Obsolete is a themed, group exhibition — curated by Dreamingwolf — dealing with the same themes.  For this show, Dreamingwolf invited an all-star list of local and regional talent to comment on these same ideas of loss and change in their own creative way.

About Don’t Forget to Write, Dreamingwolf says:

“The paintings for this show are representational goodbyes to both things and moments past.  It acknowledges movement and change. It’s a love letter professing affection for our time together as well as condemnation of that which separated our paths.  Whether we say goodbye with a distancing or words scrawled on paper, stalls, and walls; don’t forget to write.”

Dreamingwolf continues, describing his path to creating Obsolete:

“I was given a solo show for this October at Studio 2091 and was exploring both moments and things past in the works for it. A group show usually accompanies a showing at this gallery, and I thought it would be fun to curate a show based on that same theme of past. Obsolete was what came of this. It also was a take on the Burgess Meredith Twilight Zone ‘The Obsolete Man.’ I really wanted people to take it wherever they wanted, and from the pieces I’ve seen, the artists have done exactly that.

“I also wanted with this show to bring Cleveland and Akron/Canton artists together at a site between the cities to showcase some great talent that maybe people haven’t had the pleasure of viewing. As well as these local artists, there will be some out-of-staters whose work speaks for itself. The response from the artists involved has been really inspiring, and I thank them all.”

The works for both shows make powerful statements about constant change and the fleeting nature of life.  In our modern world, everything seems to be moving faster and faster exponentially every day.  The trends of today in technology, fashion, art, news, etc. will be obsolete by tomorrow, just as many of the ideas, things and moments of yesterday seem obsolete today.  Both shows comment on the present and the future by examining the past.

Participating artists include:
