Guide to Kulchur, the new bookstore at Gordon Square, run by area writer/ musician RA Washington, is hosting what he promises will be the first of a series of multimedia/art/music events called Dialogues.
Since the store specializes in hand-to-find, underground books and ’zines, you can bet they’re not featuring any Guns N’ Roses tribute band.
The two ensembles that will play explore the outer limits of jazz.
The duo of drummer Seth Nanaa and tenor sax player Brent Bagwell aka Ghost Trees play meandering, experimental jazz in surprisingly concise chunks.
Cleveland quintet the Oblique Orchestra also traffics in experimental, improvisational jazz, creating its compositions on the fly, while exploring the textures that can be created by drums, bass, trumpet, sax, and cello.
The music’s free, so maybe you can buy something.
