Cleveland Chamber Music Society Kicks Off Season With Vocal/Piano/Viola Trio

Tue 10/15 @ 7:30PM

It’s the 64th season for the Cleveland Chamber Music Society, bringing in some of the most outstanding classical talent in the country in small ensembles.

Leading off the season is a program of music for soprano, viola, and piano by Schumann, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Gounod, and more.

The impressive trio of performers includes soprano Susanna Phillips, winner of the Metropolitan Opera’s 2010 Beverly Sills Artist Award. She’s performed at the Met for the last five seasons, as well as other opera houses and concert halls around the country.

Violist Paul Neubauer’s resume includes the Chamber Music Society at Lincoln Center, a chair in the New York Philharmonic, a pair of Grammy nominations, the premieres of many compositions for his instrument, and currently, a faculty position at his alma mater, the Juilliard School.

Pianist Anne-Marie McDermott is also a member of the Chamber Music Society at Lincoln Center, as well as the artistic director of the Vail Valley Music Festival in Colorado. She’s known for exposing the work of contemporary composers as well as older ones.

The three have formed an ongoing collaboration, which has done numerous salon-style performances around the country.

The performance takes place at Plymouth Church in Shaker Heights.

Tickets are $30.
