There’ll be a new face on the Severance Hall podium this week when veteran Russian conductor Vassily Sinaisky, music direcor and chief conductor at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, makes his conducting debut there.
Appropriately, he’ll be leading a program of all-Russian music, highlighted by Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 4 and Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, with Kirill Gerstein featured as soloist in the latter. The Thursday and Friday evening concerts will open with Liadov’s Eight Russian Folk Songs.
Tickets are $29-$149.
