By the time vocalist Alexis Cole was born in the mid ’70s, the era of sophisticated supper clubs featuring sultry jazz chanteuses was long over.
But the young singer/pianist evokes that era vividly with her rich, smooth alto and her sensitive renditions of the endlessly popular classic pop tunes of the early 20th century.
With six albums and a slew of appearances at prestigious clubs and festivals, people who like jazz singers are starting to keep an eye on her.
She’ll be at Nighttown with the Dan Maier Trio.
Tickets are $15, $8 for students with ID.
