Florida Jazz Trio Features Local Star Bobby Selvaggio at Nighttown

Sat 8/17 @8:30 PM

A talented young jazz pianist from Florida has a rendezvous scheduled with one of Cleveland’s most noted jazz sax players.

Tallahasee-based Zach Bartholomew and his trio and Cleveland’s Bobby Selvaggio will join forces at Nighttown this week, uniting a fledging group with a seasoned player.

Selvaggio is yet another Cleveland jazz player who did some time in New York City establishing his reputation before moving back to his hometown and finding opportunities here. He’s now director of jazz studies at Kent State where he earned his undergraduate degree, and recently added a new album Way of Being to his extensive catalogue.

Bartholomew is a young player who formed his trio — which includes bassist Brandon Robertson and drummer Miles Bozeman — in 2009 while at the Florida State University College of Music Jazz program. The group released its debut album Out of This Town last year.

Tickets are $10.
