Ann Arbor’s Jack and The Bear are the latest find from the folks at Bad Racket Recording, who have put together quite a series of summer club concerts, now drawing to a close.
Featuring a sister and two brothers among its five members, the band claims to be heavily influenced by Bruce Springsteen’s Seeger Sessions Band, they exude some of that full-bodied yet folk-rooted sound. But it’s totally lacking that project’s overly earnest portentousness. There’s something a little flippant in their self-presentation that bleeds over into the music.
They’ll be joined at the Buck Buck Gallery by young local singer-songwriter Tom Evanchuck, whose music is rooted in the classic rock and acoustic pop of the ’60s and early ’70s and Cleveland roots-rock ensemble Humble Home.
Tickets are $8.
