Las Vegas-base rockers the Killers are one of those bands that broke out in the ’00s to a level just beneath that of reliable arena headliner.
They made an immediate impact with their first album, Hot Fuss, and its single “Mr. Brightside.” Singer Brandon Flowers became a recognizable face, just shy of being a celebrity, but with a highly distinctive, slightly mannered vocal style
Although each of its three subsequent albums (the latest: last year’s Battle Born) has sold a little less well, the band had already staked out a claimed to its audience with its anthemic new wave-meets-modern rock sound with a Britpop veneer. And songs like “Human,” from the band’s 2008 album Day & Age, released just before the band took a brief hiatus, have the comfortable feel of much-loved classics.
The Killers will be at Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica. Tickets are $47.50.
