Singer Tim Barry’s band Avail, based in Virginia, were a revered icon of the early Vans Warped tour era of punk rock, with an earnest tunefulness and unstudied sincerity other bands have been hard-pressed to emulate.
Following six energetic and influential albums from 1992-2002 on respected punk-rock indie labels Lookout! and Fat Wreck Chords, the band kind of petered out, and has been on indefinite hiatus for five or six years. Since then, Barry’s put out of a string of solo albums featuring a more laidback folk-influenced sound.
He’ll be at the Grog Shop with alt country artist Cory Branan, Boston singer-songwriter Bryan McPherson, and Akron singer-songwriter Austin Craig.
Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 day of show.
