Youngstown drummer Jim “JR” Richley is well known in the local music scene from playing in many popular bands over the years. His current portfolio includes three: Run Avril Run, Grateful Dead tribute Sugar Magnolia, and the Gary Markasky Project, featuring former Michael Stanley Band guitarist Markasky.
Recently, Richley battled necrotizing fasciitis, spent months in the hospital and had nine surgeries. He’s on the mend now, but has a pile of bills since he wasn’t able to work for so long.
So his network of musician friends is hosting a benefit at the Sly Fox in North Olmsted. Both Run Avril Run and Sugar Magnolia will play sets, along with Pink Floyd Tribute Wish You Were Here and Jukebox Heroes. There’ll also be a jam featuring JR’s many friends.
Donation is $20. The evening also includes food and a 50/50 raffle.
