Another free summer concert series starts this week: the Music in the Meadow series hosted by Cuyahoga Valley National Park at Howe Meadow in Peninsula.
The biweekly Wednesday evening series starts with a local favorite so popular they’re booked for almost every series and festival event all summer long: Carlos Jones & the P.L.U.S. Band. And no wonder. Their upbeat, rhythmic, reggae music makes bodies move, and front man Jones’ sunny stage presence makes everybody feel good.
The events are informal and family-friendly with games and family activities starting at 5:30, with the concert at 6:30. Bring your blanket and a picnic.
Concerts are cancelled if the weather is extremely threatening. Call 330-650-4636, ext. 228 after 2 p.m. updates.
The rest of the schedule includes the Sammy De Leon Latin Jazz Orchestra (6/26), the contemporary acoustic music of Boy=Girl (7/10), Heartbeat Afrika’s percussion-oriented music (7/24), the Cletus Black Revue performing rootsy rock (7/7), and Celtic group the New Barleycorn (8/21).
