Former Members Bring Black Flag Music to the Grog Shop

Sun 6/9 @ 8:30PM

Black Flag was on the leading edge of punk rock. The members initially got together in California in 1976 about the time the Sex Pistols, formed the previous year, were starting to attract serious attention. In the late ’70sand early ’80s Black Flag was crucial in establishing the American hardcore punk ethos — sound, attitude, appearance, and graphic design.

Guitarist/songwriter Greg Ginn was the band’s core and its driving force over its ten-year run. And he recently reformed the band with new members. (Some of the old members don’t get along with him.)

Meanwhile, four of the band’s many other members — singer/cofounder Keith Morris, original bassist Chuck Dukowski, drummer Bill Stevenson, and guitarist Dez Cadena, along with guitarist Stephen Egerton, who played with Stevenson in another seminal American punk band, the Descendents — have been touring as Flag, playing Black Flag material.

They’ll be at the Grog Shop with Short Rabbits and Nightsweats. It’s $30 in advance, $32 at the door.
