When a concert tour is sponsored by a publication called “Decibel Magazine,” you know that earnest performers with acoustic guitars singing about their romantic longings will not be part of the bill.
No indeed.
The tour is headlined by the mighty Cannibal Corpse, long-running kings of death metal.
Since 1988, on classic albums like Eaten Back to Life, Butchered at Birth, and Tomb of the Mutilated, the Buffalo, New York band has epitomized the genre with its violent gross-out lyrics, its blast-beat rhythms, its nearly impenetrable wall of sound, and its belching, cookie-monster vocals once described by a friend of mine as the “sound of a toilet being flushed.”
And still they rule over the black T-shirt-wearing hordes.
They’ll be joined for the tour by legendary British grindcore masters Napalm Death, whose roots go back to 1981; equally long-lived American death metal band Immolation; and newcomers Magrudergrind, a U.S. grindcore band whose relatively short history only goes back a decade.
Tickets are $20 in advance $23 at the door.
