The folks over at Bad Racket Recording have quite a summer planned.
The same people who planned the entertainment for the Brite Winter Fest in February are now booking a 16-concert series, featuring some of the same artists that 20,000 people shivered in the cold to hear.
They’ll take place June through August at several venues: Bad Racket Recording Studio in Ohio City, Mahall’s 20 Lanes in Lakewood, the Beachland Ballroom & Tavern, and the Grog Shop.
“It’s kind of a continuation of the mindset of how I put together Brite Winter,” says Bad Racket owner Thomas Fox, who was primarily responsible for rounding up Brite Winter’s roster. “There are no huge names but they’re all mixing a national audience with local audience because we want people to get together and we don’t want it all centered around Cleveland. A lot of the artists we’ve found over last three years of setting up Brite Winter. Everything is building on ideas I put together in creating Brite Winter and taking them further.”
It’s also a continuation of the in-studio live music events that Bad Racket has hosted since it opened three years ago, and its showcasing of indie talent — both local and imported — on its website.
“I want people to discover the music ahead of time,” says Fox. “We’ve put up new section on our website with special show feature.”
The series kicks off this week with Toronto indie rockers Hooded Fang, Toledo’s Silent Lions, and two Cleveland groups, GoldMINES and Rollergirl playing at Bad Racket. Tickets are $8.
