David Wilcox has come a long way since he was listening to his parents’ James Taylor records as a teenager growing up in Mentor in the ’70s. He took up guitar himself in college and never looked back, launching his own folk-style singer-songwriter career in 1987.
He’s now got 18 releases under his belt, and a repertoire of earnest, contemplative tunes that have earned him a loyal following on the road. And yes, he does recall early James Taylor with his plaintive tenor, acoustic guitar, and seriously personal songs.
He’s at the Beachland Tavern. Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door.
