Make sure that August 16-18 is marked in your calendar for the 3rd annual Weapons of Mass Creation Festival, taking place at Cleveland Public Theatre. And start making your plans now to attend what the organizers call “the premier art, design and music festival in the Midwest.”
They recently announced their music lineup, headed by nationally known acts like influential, recently reunited emo pioneers Braid, the Appleseed Cast, and Astronautalis; bands from Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Nashville, New Orleans and Chicago; and nearly 20 of Northeast Ohio’s best indie bands, including Filmstrip, Seafair, ShiSho, Leah Lou & the 2 Left Shoes, Cherry Cola Champions, Ohio Sky, the Modern Electric, and Muamin Collective.
They’ve also announced some of the speakers and designers who will be participating, with more to be named later. They too come from as close as Cleveland and as far as San Francisco.
To raise some working capital and give supporters a first crack at tickets, WMC is running a Kickstarter campaign through June 5. Among other things, you can get a three-day pass for only $60.
