There’s a new free summer concert series on the schedule. It’s dubbed “TOOTS”: Tunes Outdoors On Tuesday Series.
And it’s taking place in a cemetery.
Lake View Cemetery is actually one of Cleveland’s historical, geological, horticultural and artistic treasures, and well worth checking out if you’ve never been there. It’s home to titans of industry, artists, sports heroes, and even a president: James A. Garfield, who was from Northeast Ohio.
The concerts will be held on the lawn of the Garfield Monument — easily enough to find because it towers over its surroundings — from 7 to 8:30 pm. You’re invited to bring a blanket, a picnic and your family and friends.
The series kicks off Tue 6/11 with eight-piece funk band the Phunky Panda Monkeys (rain date: 6/18).
It continues with alt-country/swamp rockers Cats on Holiday Tue. 6/25 (rain date: 7/2); swing/blues/jazz ensemble Blue Lunch Tue 7/23 (rain date: 8/6); and wraps up with rock cover band the Karma Kings Tue 8/13 (rain date: 8/20).
