VIDEO: Teaching Geometry With Dance: Tom Evert of DANCEVERT

Sat 3/16

Tom Evert and his company DANCEVERT recently returned to NEO from a few years in the nation’s capital working with the Kennedy Center on a new arts education program.

In 1986 he created Tom Evert Dance in Cleveland after traveling the world dancing in the Paul Taylor Dance Company. His wife Susana Weingarten danced with Ballet Independiente de Mexico. Now he’s figured out how to get kids to score well on their geometry tests by using dance.

Geometry In Motion is both an educational program for kids, and a new work he’ll be showcasing at his upcoming DANCEVERT Benefit Dance Party on 3/16 at the All About Dancin’ Ballroom near the West Side Market.

Watch the video here, shot at one of his workshops at St. Rocco’s, as he talks about this innovative arts education program. And stay tuned to see the kids get movin’.
