With St. Patrick’s Day upon us, you know you’re going to be seeing a lot of the Boys From the County Hell. The band, now celebrating its 14th Shamrock Season, features eight accomplished Cleveland musicians who moonlight in this ensemble which channels the drunken party spirit of Ireland’s Pogues. Needless to say, they’re in great demand for St. Patty’s parties in area bars — so much so that on the day itself, they race from a morning pre-parade show at the House of Blues up East 4th street to Flannery for an afternoon bash before packing their gear and heading over to the Harp in Detroit Shoreway to close out the evening.
But you don’t have to wait for March 17 to start chugging Guinness and caterwauling “Bottle of Smoke” along with the band. They’re warming up at the Happy Dog tonight and Stone Mad Pub tomorrow.
