If you’re out and about on a Saturday night and looking for a low-cost music option, stop by the Beachland Tavern and check out a couple of the area’s best new bands, both offshoots of excellent local bands of the recent past.
Ragers, formed from the ashes of infectious electronic dance -pop ensemble This Is a Shakedown!, play no-nonsense rock & roll that’s just as infectious but harder-hitting. GoldMINES, featuring the instrumental foundation of Hot Cha Cha, produce a thick, punchy clamor that eddies around a hypnotic melodic core. Both bands just hit the scene last year. They’ll be joined by another newish Cleveland band with an indie pop sound, Friendly Ghosts. Admission is $5.
