Jewel Performs at Lakewood Civic Auditorium

Sat 3/23 @ 7:30PM

Jewel Kilcher was an earnest songwriter barely out of her teens when her 1995 debut album Pieces of You propelled her to stardom, selling more than 15 million copies with huge hits like “Who Will Save Your Soul” and “You Were Meant for Me.”

Since her string of hits in the late 90s, her career’s been a grab bag. She made children’s albums, did some TV and film acting, published a book of poetry, appeared on several reality TV shows as a judge, and got lucky when injury prevented her from following through with a stint on Dancing With the Stars. After being dropped by her original label, she signed a Nashville deal and aimed for the country charts.

But there’s something durable about Jewel’s music. Her tunes lack pretense and always seem heartfelt, even when they’ve occasionally been overproduced. And there’s no denying the allure of her sweet, pure, well-trained soprano in an era of voices propped up with production tricks.

She’s at the Lakewood Civic Auditorium. Tickets are $35 and $47.50.
