Boston Folkie Saul Conrad at Wilbert’s

Thu 2/21 @ 9PM

Boston-area acoustic singer-songwriter Saul Conrad writes odd little songs with quirky imagery that seem to owe more to one of his stated influences, Elliot Smith, than another, Townes Van Zandt.

His album, Poison Packets, drapes slyly sexy lyrics in a boyish demeanor that at times seems to be assuming the naïve outsiderness of one of the songwriters the Boston Globe compared him to, Daniel Johnston. But he’s clearly more in control of his delicate weirdness than the mentally ill Johnston. He’ll be performing at Wilbert’s with Parma jam band (now isn’t that a contraction in terms?), the Mucklebuck.
