Maybe it was the heat. Or just an inspiration. But Lakewood decided to combine two popular events into one: StreetWalk and Meltdown 5K event.
In the afternoon, Detroit Avenue was filled with bikers, streetwalkers, kids games, yoga, fencing, skateboarding and a refreshing water spray courtesy of Michael Gill’s Water Moose portable sprinkler park. Food trucks by Touch Supper Club, Fired Up Tacos and Umami Moto were a popular stop. A kids run and a 5K race rounded out the healthy event.
Later, the Meltdown Beer Garden kicked up, and partiers listened to the Burning River Ramblers band.
