Cleveland-based Paycloud launches the Groupon killer

Geof & Doug Hardman are legendary in Cleveland tech circles. Their Tyler Village-based company Sparkbase offers white label software that powers the nation’s leading loyalty gift card programs, based on the only truly independent rewards network.

Now they’ve launched Paycloud. As part of their national launch, they are reaching out to local merchants and consumers in Cleveland with their anti-Groupon mobile-based loyalty program Paycloud. Local (not national) merchants use it to offer their loyalty programs, discounts and offers. Consumers put the mobile app on their iPhone or Android smartphones like a mobile wallet and receive up-to-date offers from local merchants, making it easy to ShopLOCAL.

Last year Paycloud won the 2011 Technology Award at the Electronic Transactions Association National Meeting. Shortly thereafter, Sparkbase won $3 million in Series A funding and partnered with Alpha Card Services, who process over $2 billion in transactions annually. They then came back to win the Midwest Acquirers Association’s 2011 Shark Tank Innovation Award for the most promising new technology.

If you’d like to download their mobile app to take advantage of local loyalty deals, or if you’re a merchant looking to offer your promotions to consumers, you can get more information and download the app here: http://sparkbase.com/products/paycloud

If you’re interested in working for Sparkbase, they are among the many hi-tech firms hiring right now in the Cleveland area. You can contact them at http://workatpaycloud.com
