Lakewood City Hall, 12650 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood OH 44107
Although the deal is done and nothing can save the $700,000 Detroit Theatre from demolition by the McDonald’s franchise that wants to move 1 mile from Sloane Avenue, a public meeting will be held at Lakewood City Hall of the Board of Building Standards to begin the long discussion with the fast food retailer to consider their architectural and signage proposals.
It is suggested that the community attend the meeting and voice their opinions.

One Response to “McDonald’s demolishing Detroit Theatre in Lakewood- public meeting”

This is a travesty…and a joke on the part of spineless/bought Lakewood city officials to allow for taking a walkable setting….and regressing….by reverting back to an oil/auto dependent design. McDonald’s or developers should not dictate city planning. That is like letting loggers dictate forest management!
This place is just another component that encourages obesity….and litter too. Take a look at the streets and notice how many times you see fast food litter…and notice how most of the time it is almost always McDonald’s. This must say heaps about much of their clientele. So, we go from a theater district setting to this. Nice.
Panera Brad on Detroit opted for adaptive re-use, so could have McDonald’s in another building, or used part of the theater for a really unique setting. Instead, we get the typical throw away building with a 10 year life span if we’re lucky…that will look like crap with an oil stained laden and littered parking lot, while the smell of heart attack permeates the ambient air!
