Ritual and Pilgrimage in World Religions: a panel discussion

Sun 10/24 @ 2:30 – 3:30PM

Ritual and pilgrimage is sacred to most, if not all, religions. Explore these common themes @ a panel discussion at the Cleveland Museum of Art on Sun 10/24.

Details:

Moderated by Case Western Reserve Professor of Religious Studies, Deepak Sarma, experts in Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, and African religions will explore the themes of ritual and pilgrimage from a cross-cultural perspective.

This program will provide an opportunity to see the Christian veneration of relics – the topic of the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Treasures of Heaven exhibition – within a broad historical and comparative context which will offer important insights into the practices that connect disparate religious traditions and cultures. Panelists include Vasudha Narayanan (University of Florida), Sarah Brett-Smith (Rutgers University), Justin R. Ritzinger (Oberlin College), and Griff Mann (Cleveland Museum of Art). This event is co-sponsored by the Cleveland Museum of Art.
