Let’s talk about sewage. According to “Turning the Tide” (a new report from Healing Our Waters Campaign), from January ’09 – January ’10, the combined sewer overflows from Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit, Gary, and Milwaukee discharged 41 billion gallons of untreated sewage & stormwater into the Great Lakes. Um, yuck. What does the report recommend? Upgraded sewer systems, of course, and increased implementation of green infrastructure techniques.
