Get out that harmonica… it’s time for the Ohio City Blues Fest. Five blues bands will serenade you into the summer night while you munch on food from Fat Fish Blue and enjoy the picturesque scenery of Whiskey Island.
Cool, but who will be the headliner?
Headlining the event this year is Walkin’ Cane, who brings his unique blend of original and classic delta blues to the stage. Austin “Walkin’ Cane” is a blues singer, songwriter and slide guitarist who has traveled all over the world, from New Orleans to France and even Nepal. Over the years, he has racked up numerous blues/instrumentalist awards and is a regular performer at around Northeast Ohio. He also has opened for or performed with a variety of notable bands and musicians, including blues legends Buddy Guy and Robert Jr. Lockwood, Gregg Allman and Ted Nugent, and veteran rockers Deep Purple and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Just a quick note: Whiskey Island is, indeed, in the Ohio City neighborhood–both by historical boundaries (Ohio City was founded where the river meets the lake which includes the current-day Whiskey Island) and community development corporation boundaries. After all, why would we hold an Ohio City Blues Fest somewhere other than Ohio City?
