Last fall, Ensemble Theatre premiered The Bloodless Jungle, a play about politics and the ethical dilemmas it presents, written by Cleveland actor/director/ playwright Peter Lawson Jones, someone who knows that arena well: he’s a former state legislator and was a Cuyahoga County Commissioner before that that job was eliminated by county charter reform. Since then, his theater career has blossomed
Another person whose career has blossomed since his job was eliminated is director Terrence Spivey, who lost his job as artistic director at Karamu last year due to cost cutbacks and has been in demand everywhere since (He recently joined the staff of the Shore Cultural Center as artistic director early this year). Spivey directed that production last fall.
Ensemble Theatre is now reviving the play for eight performances at its theater in Cleveland Heights. It will be interesting to look at the play again in light of the presidential election that has taken place in the meantime. Tickets are $25; $20 for seniors.
