Fri 4/14 @ 7-9PM

Drumplay has been performing its distinctive brand of world music/jazz/spoken word for a quarter century now. Prior to his death in 2004, the ensemble include Cuyahoga County Poet Laureate Daniel Thompson, whose work combined a highly educated literary sensibility with that of a street poet and who was known for the work he did in the homeless community. Currently members include founder/percussionist James Onysko, bassist George Lee, horn player/vocalist J. Scott Franklin and drummer John Stebal.

Informally, the group is celebrating its 25th anniversary and the 25th anniversary of Thompson’s appointment as county poet laureate (4/1/92) with a couple of area shows. The first takes place at the Lakewood Public Library Fri 4/14. The second is at one of their regular stomping grounds, the Sandy Chanty in Geneva-on-the-Lake Sat 4/29 when they help the C
