Back in 2008, a bunch of local musicians were at a holiday party, drinking and singing and being of good cheer. And an idea emerged from that revelrous camaraderie that became … the Ohio City Singers.

Now all these years later the band has a catalog of albums and a large repertoire of original carols that they trot out this time of year when they emerge annually from their hibernation to hold musical Christmas parties at all their favorite venues. And while the music’s original, the tunes are so lively and catchy that after one hearing you’ll feel like you’ve known them your whole life.

The band features an all-star cast of area musicians, including Chris Allen and Austin Charanghat on guitars, Doug McKean on electric guitars, Matt Sobol on acoustic guitar, Brent Kirby on drums, Don Dixon on various instruments, Dave Padruff on bass and Nick Stipanovich on accordion, with everybody on vocals, and additional vocals by Kelly Wright.

You’ve got one final time to see them before they pack away their Santa hats for another year: tonight at the House of Blues.

Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door.
