No one will ever say that there’s nothing new, unusual or challenging in Cleveland Public Theatre’s wildly diverse schedule of productions.
This weekend only, it will be presenting two world premiere performances of Reverie Oracle, conceived and directed by CPT’s executive artistic director Raymond Bobgan, with a cast of 14. It’s described as a combination of performance art, an art exhibit and “an oracle… an improvisation of song, movement, poetry, and yes, flying.”
“Dreams reveal so much about who we are,” says Bobgan. “Reverie Oracle is a collective dream of performers, who are engaged in a rigorous game where imaginary landscapes are embodied, poetry is given voice, and songs are shared.”
The immersive presentation invites attendees to walk through a “gallery” and watch the “oracle” unfold. They can take in the event at their own pace, coming and going any time between 7 and 1pm. This clearly isn’t some linear storyline that wraps up in act 3.
The event is free and open to all, although donations are highly appreciated.
