Hopefully the sun will shine on the second annual Hingetown Hoedown as it did not on the first, which took place in a downpour.
This new festival features a lineup of folksy Americana acts from all over Ohio with an emphasis on bluegrass/newgrass/string band/Appalachian-style music, with two stages of music outdoors on West 29th just south of Detroit.
The main stage kicks off at 2pm, followed in one-hour increments by Lost Bob and the Ozone Ramblers, Small Batch, the Gage Brothers, the Rubber Knife Gang, the Hocking River String Band, Honeybucket (whose guitarist Adam Reifsnyder is one of the six co-founders of the event) and headliners the Wayfarers (pictured) out of Zanesville.
Over on the busking stage, the Sheridan Sisters perform at 3:40, Miss Macy and the Low Pay Daddys come on at 4:40, Shawn & Shelby play at 5:40 and Triheard winds things up at 6:40. There’ll also be food trucks, craft beer, vendors and kids’ activities. And best of all, it’s free!
