Once Again, Blossom Music Center Presents Its Independence Day Salute to America

Wed 7/3 @ 8PM

One of the area’s most predictable event is the annual Blossom Music Center “Salute to America” concert, which returns each year right around July 4.

There are some changes this year. There’ll be a new face on the podium leading the Blossom Festival Band: instead of longtime conductor Loras John Schissel, Galen S. Karriker, director of bands and professor of music at the University of Akron, will do the honors. And it will be a one-night-only event.

What won’t be different is the music selection: patriotic tunes, Sousa marches, Broadway and pop tunes, and most likely, an Armed Forces salute, and the concluding fireworks display (weather permitting) set as usual to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, which has nothing to do with July 4 or America but whatever.
