There’s Lots of Action at August’s Walk All Over Waterloo

Fri 8/3 @ 6-10PM

Come and catch the activity in the Waterloo Arts district while it’s still warm and you can really Walk All Over Waterloo without freeing your toes.

August is the perfect time to explore the businesses and galleries on the street, starting with Article whose show Featured Creatures includes work by Barbara Bloom, Maggy Brown, Cindy Ceroky, Keri Gortz, Michael W. High, Jack Kinkefaar, Linda Merchant, Lisa Ruschman, Betty Skufca (it’ll be on view through 8/25).

Then head across the street to Praxis Fiber Workshop for Convergence, the work of Praxis fellow/recent Cleveland Institute of Art grad Laura Yurko. She’ll be showing the highly saturated textile work she’s been doing during her fellowship at Praxis.

Be sure to check out the opening of Identity and Reflection at Waterloo Arts, with new paintings by Dan Corrigan, Meghann Hennan and Lauren Mackensie Noel, in a show put together by veteran Cleveland artist/critic/curator Douglas Max Utter.

Stop to listen to some music just outside Waterloo Arts at the Tower Stage, with Mike Uva’s low-key indie pop at 6pm, and Moko Bovo’s blues-based rock at 7pm.

And be sure and walk all the way to the end of the street and check out Matt Shiffler’s photo studio; he’s promising wine, snacks and some new framed works to make it worth your while.

Finally, snag a ticket now to the Ohio Burlesque Festival at the Beachland Ballroom and finish your evening there. The artists who perform at this festival are truly jaw-dropping, and if you’ve never been to one of these events, you’ll see acts you could never have imagined.
