There are few area bands more fun than the Chardon Polk Band, who take the heritage Cleveland sound, birthed in its Slovenian community in the early 20th century, and reinvent it for today but combining both a reverence for the tradition and irreverence for boundaries, applying the traditional style to contemporary pop tunes while performing polka classics such as “In Heaven There Is No Beer” and “Who Stole the Kishka.”
Given the dearth of Oktoberfests this year, you may be jonesing for a hit of polka. So roll up your living room rug and tune into the Chardon Polka Band’s virtual concert for the Hudson Library & Historical Society. It will premiere on Hudson Library’s Facebook page and will be available for streaming on their YouTube page after that. So you can keep the part going all Oktober! And it’s free.
