There are several reasons to attend the Broadway School of Arts benefit, Brass & Bubbly. One, of course, is to support the good work of this nonprofit organization which provides arts education and opportunities for participation for people of all types and means in Slavic Village, one of Cleveland’s poorest neighborhoods.
Another is to hear a performance by the Factory Seconds Brass Trio, founded in 2013 as an extracurricular activity by three members of The Cleveland Orchestra: trumpet player Jack Sutte, trombonist Richard Sout and French horn player Richard King.
And a third is it takes place at the Darl Center for the Arts, right next door to the Broadway School of Arts, where retired event planner and lifelong art collector Darl Schaaff has installed his eye-popping personal collection in the former, long-abandoned Carnegie Library which he spent a small fortune restoring. Before and after the concert, taking place in the cabaret-like theater space he’s constructed on the lower level, you can tour the collection and immerse yourself in a huge variety of pieces from all over the world.
The event will also celebrate the contributions of Broadway School’s retiring executive director Barbara Bachtell. Get tickets here.
