City Club Forum Previews One of BorderLight Festival’s Offerings

Wed 7/16 @ noon

The second edition of the City Club’s free outdoor forums on the Playhouse Square Plaza across from its offices ties in with another event happening at Playhouse this week: the BorderLight Festival which runs July 16-19.

The forum focuses on one of the festival’s offerings: a “theater experience” called Buckeyes: Buses and Baseball, written, performed and directed by local theater artist Eric Schmiedl, and presented in partnership with Cleveland’s Baseball Heritage Museum. It looks back at a legendary fame played at League Park at Lexington Avenue and East 66th Street (where the Baseball Heritage Museum is now located) when the Cleveland Buckeyes defeated the Homestead Grays in the 1945 Negro National League World Series. The production, enacted by three performers, includes spoken word, music, movement and drama.

Schmiedl will be joined by Tina D. Stump, one of his fellow creator/performers of the piece to talk with moderator Gabriel Kramer about its background and how it came together.  You can register to attend here, not required, but it can help them plan.
