The Rock & Roll Hall of Fames 2025 fall film series launches this week with a 1992 film that brought a couple of characters from a Saturday Night live sketch to the big screen. Wayne’s World featured Mike Myers and Dana Carvey as Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar, the hosts of one of those low-budget shows that were all over early public-access cable TV. In the original sketch, they’re a couple of rock & roll-loving meathead friends broadcasting from Wayne’s parents’ basement. The movie added elaborate, convoluted plot to make the sketches into a feature-length film.
Future screenings in the Rock Hall’s Foster Theater include School of Rock (October 30), The Blues Brothers (November 6) and Hairspray (November 13). Go here for tickets.
