Acoustic Folk/Blues Trio South for Winter Lands at Riverdog Barn

Thu 7/11 @ 7:30PM

While acoustic folk trio South for Winter is now firmly rooted in Nashville, its roots are international and peripatetic. Vocalist/ guitarist Nick Stone, who is from New Zealand, and vocalist guitarist/mandolinist/ percussionist Dani Cichon Stone, who is from Colorado, met ten years ago while working with an organization to build greenhouses in Peru and bonded over writing songs together in their spare time.

They spent years working in different projects in different parts of the world before reuniting as a duo in New Zealand and then moving to Nashville together. That’s where they met cellist/guitarist Alex Stradal who is from Michigan, and he completed the ensemble. With all three contributing songs, vocals and many instruments, they released their debut album Luxumbra in late 2020, following it up with Of Sea and Sky in 2023. In between they toured the U.S, Europe and New Zealand extensively, building a following for their warm, energetic, earthy sound.

They’ll be making their first appearance at Riverdog Barn as they continue to promote their latest album. Go here for tickets. Get more information about the band here.
