Most of Roots of American Music’s work is done at institutions out in the community, such as underserved schools, where the Cleveland-based nonprofit hires local professional musicians to use music to teach about subjects such as history, civics, science and language. Most of the musicians come, appropriately, from American roots music genres.
Just for fun and for the wider community to enjoy, they’ve been holding periodic bluegrass jam sessions at the Beachland Ballroom, like this one this week. They’re free.
