On Saturday October 18, millions of people gathered at thousands of locations, not only across the U.S. but around the world, to protest the country’s heartless, erratic, lawbreaking regime. In Cleveland it was estimated that 20,000 gathered at Willard Park at East 9th and Lakeside, while thousands more assembled in Parma, Strongsville, Chagrin Falls, Bainbridge, Solon and Mentor, among other places. Ohio Congresswoman Shontel Brown delivered a barnburner of an uplifting speech, and Cleveland mayor Justin Bibb also spoke strongly in favor of democracy and the rule of law. Speakers from the SEIU and the Cleveland Teacher’s Union, among others, rousted the crowd, and musicians Alex Bevan, Charlie Mosbrook and Lenny DiCosimo regaled the crowd with tunes as they prepared to march.
The atmosphere was festive, the costumes were colorful, the handmade signs were creative, and no one was arrested.
