Carlos Jones Plays Rescheduled Wade Oval Wednesday Concert

Wed 8/23 @ 6-8:30PM

The popular free outdoor Wade Oval Wednesdays at University Circle wraps up this week, a week later than planned, with a concert not originally on the schedule.

Its biggest night is the annual appearance of Carlos Jones and the P.L.U.S. Band who always hold down the last slot pre-July 4. But their June 28 concert was postponed and added on the tail end of the series. Pray for good weather!

Expect a big crowd so come early if you want to get a good spot on the lawn. (It’s a big lawn so there’ll always be some place for you to spread your blanket or open your folding chair.) The band’s warm, welcoming reggae vibes mesh perfectly with that summer feeling. Expect a slightly different sound as the band’s longtime guitarist Darren “Cholly O” Evans and bass player Ghani Harris have moved on amicably to other projects, but the vibe remain and you never know who will show up for this gig.

WOW also offers food trucks and stands, with things such as pizza, hot dogs, BBQ, ice cream and popcorn are available. You can also bring a picnic. There are generally activities for kids and tables from local organizations and agencies as well, although with this being an unscheduled concert we don’t know what they’ll have. But this band provides enough fun for everyone.
