If you’re a musician or a music fan who likes your music creative and unpredictable, come on down the BOP STOP’s monthly Outlab: Experiments in Improvised Music to explore (or listen to others explore) new paths in music.
The long-running group improvisational jam session invites musicians of all skill levels to join in its flight into the outer realms of music. Bring any instrument or sound-producing device. A drum kit and keyboard are provided; bring your amp if you need one. There are few rukles, just some “guidelines”: “to direct our explorations along the most productive and positive lines, and to engage the widest possible variety of individuals from Greater Cleveland’s rich and diverse music scenes.”
It’s free to play or listen, although donations will not be rejected.
If you’d like to fuel your inspiration, come down early ay 7pm, when you can catch a set of improvised original music led by Cleveland free jazz drummer Rob Picard, who will be joined by trumpet player Garrett Folger and guitarist John Karkosiak. Tickets are $15.
