Pride in the CLE Fills Downtown Malls with Diversity and Joy

Sat 6/6 @ 11AM-6PM

Pride in the CLE seems to keep getting bigger each year with more vendors, more food, more stages, more performers, and more and more people. It now sprawls over Malls B and C to handle that sea of diverse humanity — people of all ages, colors, genders and sizes, many of them sporting their most creative and/or outrageous apparel.

It all starts with the parade stepping off from Public Square at 11am, featuring delegations representing an array of businesses, nonprofits, community groups, churches and more. Occasionally there’s a few lonely “gays go to hell” protestors, but they look sadder each year amidst all that rainbow wave. The full march is expected to take an hour and 15 minutes before the last delegation reaches the malls.

The opening ceremony takes place on the Main Stage on Mall C at 12:30; live entertainment starts on Mall B’s Speak Out stage at the same time. The thing is so big and sprawling now, with so many organization and business booths that you might want to make an itinerary ahead of time so you don’t miss talking to anyone or any group important to you. Go here. You can also find a list of performers at that link.

Of course, it’s free and open to all. Diversity, equality, inclusion — DEI rules!
